Before any business can text customers from a normal phone number, U.S. carriers require it to register — a rule called A2P 10DLC. It exists to cut down on spam texting, and it applies to everyone. The good news: NeighborStack handles the filing for you.
What you'll need on hand
| Detail | Why | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Legal business name | Must match your official registration | Copy it exactly from your EIN or state filing. |
| Business address | Verified against records | Use your registered address, not a nickname or PO box if you can avoid it. |
| EIN (tax ID) | Confirms the business is real | Sole proprietors without an EIN can still register — the form guides you. |
| Contact email & phone | For carrier verification | Use an address you check. |
How it works
- 1Enter your business details once in the app — legal name, address, and a few compliance fields.
- 2We file the brand and campaign registration with the carriers on your behalf.
- 3The carriers review it. This is out of our hands and can take from a day to a couple of weeks.
- 4When it is approved, business texting turns on automatically — no further action from you.
Good to know
Until registration is approved, your AI still answers calls normally. It is only customer texting that waits on carrier approval.
Heads up
Accuracy matters: carriers reject registrations whose business details do not match official records. Enter your legal business name and address exactly as they appear on your registration documents to avoid delays.
